Tax Status Changed to 501 C 3

THE SOUTH CAROLINA HORSEMEN’S COUNCIL HAS BEEN GRANTED 501(c) 3 STATUS BY THE IRS

This has been a long grueling process requiring rewriting our By-Laws, updating our mission statement, filling out forms, and assuring the IRS that we meet their requirements. We have now received our approval. This means that individuals as well as businesses may deduct gifts to the SC Horsemen’s Council from their income taxes. This also makes our organization eligible for some prospective grants from certain charitable organizations. So get out those checkbooks and make a donation to your favorite non-profit organization (that would be us). Donations may be designated for the general fund to defray operating expenses or to the scholarship fund for recognizing deserving students. Please give thanks to Betty Rankin and Carol Deacon for doing most of the work necessary to enable us to achieve this status.

Unwanted Equine

District 5 Director, BB Weavil is chairing the committee on unwanted equine issues and making a lot of progress on identifying opportunities for unwanted horses. She is assembling information on how we can help with this issue. The SCHC has adopted a policy to guide our activities. For more information on how to deal with unwanted horses please contact BB at  bbweavil@msn.com_ or 843-224-9114.
