Southeastern Equestrian Trails Conference 2008

q       Conference begins July 31 and runs through Aug 2, 2008

q       Sheraton of North Charleston is host Hotel

q       Registration & more information is available on-line at www.southeasternequestriantrails.com

This is the ninth annual Southeastern Equestrian Trails Conference, and is being hosted by the SC Horsemen’s Council this year. The SCHC Board of Directors and Planning Committee are working hard to get the conference organized and all of the details worked out. One of our top saddle clubs in the state – the Pendleton Area Saddle Club donated $1000 to get us started on this project. Using this seed money, we have secured grants from the SC Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department; City of N. Charleston; & US Forestry Service. We have had additional donations and will mention those at a later date. We are actively seeking sponsors and vendors for the conference.

The conference program is under development. We already have several nationally acclaimed speakers committed including:

·        Tom Seay, host of RFD – TV’s America by Horseback

·        Brian Bourne, Trails Specialist for the Illinois Shawnee National Forest

·        Bonnie Davis, of Fremont California, Consulting Editor of Trail Rider  Magazine

·        Rick Potts, Chief of the Wilderness Stewardship & Recreation Mgt Div of the National Park Service

·        Christopher Douwes, Trails and Enhancements Program Manager, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)

·        And many others with extensive knowledge of equine trails management

Make plans now to bring your family and friends and join us for this exciting event and opportunity to enjoy Charleston, SC.
